Bombs Away

I can think of no better thing for Russell to come home to after a stressful day of finals.

I saw these water balloons at target in the dollar section earlier that morning and instantly thought of doing this to Russ. Of course I had to get the neighbor kids involved since what child doesn't relish the opportunity to soak an adult without consequences?

After filling a laundry basket full water balloons, we staked out our positions and waited. My bedroom window is right above the garage, making it a perfect launching sight. We were able to stay up out of reach, and with the garage and all the doors locked, Russ was forced out into the open. Christopher took the side of the house position with his handy dandy water balloon slingshot. We were prepared.

After the balloons ran out, the hose was unwound. But Russ was quick to snatch it away. So then we had to get out another hose. We all had fun getting soaked since it was hot outside. I love being sneaky :)

Everything Happens for a Reason

Everything happens for a reason. So it's no wonder our fence fell over again last night when Russ and I were both too busy to fix it. Because of this, Athena slept inside. At about 1:30am I woke up to her sounding the alarm and barking up a storm. It wasn't an angry bark. It was more of a nervous alarm kind of bark. (yes there is a difference). Usually Russ is all over getting up and yelling at her to be quite when she's barking at night. So I was surprised that he didn't even budge. Especially since it was louder with her actually in the house.
I climbed out of bed and went down stairs. Crazy thoughts go through your mind when your dog is sounding an "alarm bark" at 1:30am when you're still in a drowsy state. I was nervous that there was someone or thing outside the widows that she was barking at, so I didn't turn the lights on so that whatever "it" was wouldn't see me. But Athena wasn't at the window. She was staring at the ground in kneeling position just barking her head off.
This is her positions when she finds some bug to play with. But the barking is usually reserved for bugs that can bite back like wasps. So, it being 1:30am, I immediately thought SNAKE or mouse or something. After flipping on the lights and convincing Athena she didn't need to bite it anymore, I finally got to see what was left of it.
My puppy has now earned the honored title of Scorpion Slayer. The scorpion was missing half its body by the time I got to it, but the tail was still biting back with each attack from Athena. Using a well padded oven mitt, I picked up the offending tail and threw it in the trash. After rewarding Athena for her loyal guard dog duties, I went back up to bed.

Back in bed, I asked Russ if he had heard her barking. "No". After giving a short explanation, Russell's response was "Is that why she hurt her foot?" Yes, it made no sense.

Sweet Jumping!

I wish this was what I did for exercise.

interresting new product

If I wasn't so close to my appointment, I might be tempted to try this thingy out. I don't think I'd really trust it, but it would be fun. If stores like Walgreen's and HEB are selling it, it must be somewhat legitimate. Here's a link to the Walgreen's website.

catch up

I have some catching up to do on this. We'll go in chronological order I guess. I'll only post a few pictures here. If you want to see the rest, check out my facebook album.

These first few pictures are from a mutual activity. Russ and I both work with the youth, so we get to hang out sometimes at combined young men and young women activities. Russ has fond memories of "mall madness" at a youth. The point was to go to a mall and find a few of the ward members hanging out there in disguise!!! For our activity we went to Walmart instead since it was closer. Russ was very excited to be chosen to disguise himself and we found a Pedro costume at a party supply store. Our friend Lindsey Whiting helped us put it all together.

I tried the wig on for size. I thought seriously about cutting it this short for reals afterward, but then decided I didn't like the thought of really short hair while pregnant.

Next up: PUERTO RICO!!!!!

Russ and I lucked out this year and had spring break at the same time!!! We flew out to Puerto Rico (a favorite vacation spot for us) to visit Russell's brother and his family. A lot of these pictures were taken on an Island just off Puerto Rico called Culebra were we stayed for two nights on a pretty empty beach. It was all heavenly. It almost brings me to tears to think that Ryan and Alayna will move back state side this summer. We didn't really take a lot of pictures of the two of us.

Last bu not least: St. Patrick's day! I will write the rest of this post in green to commemorate this wonderful day! Again, there are more pictures in my facebook album. I love St. Patrick's day. I don't really know why. I'm not Irish. I'm not Catholic. I just really like Corned beef and Darby O'Gil. We almost didn't have corned beef this year!!! Russ and I went to the grocery store late monday night (all my fault) and they were all out!!! We called another store and they were all out as well!!! Luckily I convinced Russ to try one more store and we got lucky (hurray for st. Patrick's day luck) because they had plenty. It was harder this year to get all the cooking done since I had school that day. But my good neighbor Misty was awesome and helped get the corned beef started before I got home. Unfortunately, since I had no appetite for food at this time, I really did not enjoy eating the corned beef. This was a little depressing. Of course I had to eat some still so that my guests wouldn't think I'd poisoned it or something. I served a couple of other things.... but I can't really remember what. I do remember that Ann-Marie made AMAZING sugar cookies though! I just love St. Patrick's day!! How does Darby O'Hill sound for a baby name?
